Bespoke Home Bar & Wine Storage in Ascot

As part of the creation of their dream home in Ascot, our customer wanted to make the most of an existing alcove cupboard by transforming it into a stylish and practical bespoke wine storage and home bar area.

The brief was to create a dedicated space for storing and displaying their favourite wines, while also providing a practical area for mixing and serving drinks. The customer also wanted the worktop to continue around the space in a U-shaped configuration, allowing us to utilise every available inch of the alcove.

Making the Most of a Challenging Space

One of the main challenges with this project was the restricted depth of the existing alcove cupboard. Rather than allowing the limitations of the space to compromise the design, we carefully considered how the storage could be configured to provide maximum capacity while remaining practical.

The lower units were designed specifically around the available depth. These included storage that allowed bottles to be stored vertically on the left and right, together with a dedicated wine case units in the centre.

The worktop was designed to continue around the alcove in a U-shape, creating a generous surface for preparing and mixing drinks while making full use of the available space.

Wine Display & Home Bar

Above the worktop, the design was focused on creating an attractive display area for the customer's favourite bottles.

A central mirror provides a focal point within the alcove, positioned behind dedicated glass hanging storage for easy access when entertaining.

Either side of the central display, we incorporated a combination of wine bottle storage and general shelving, providing a mixture of practical storage and open display space.

This combination means the unit works equally well as a wine display, drinks cabinet and home bar, while keeping everything organised and within easy reach.

Integrated LED Lighting

Lighting was an important part of the design, helping to turn the storage into a feature within the room.

We incorporated integrated LED lighting in several areas of the unit, including:

• Under-worktop lighting to illuminate the bar area

• LED lighting within the wine display racks

• Downlighting from the upper section of the unit

• Feature lighting to highlight the customer's wine collection

The lighting creates a warm glow across the wine bottles and shelving while adding atmosphere when the home bar is being used in the evening.

Medium Oak Finish

The customer chose a medium oak stain for the bespoke cabinetry because they wanted the new wine storage and home bar to complement the existing oak throughout their home.

Matching the oak finish helped the new installation feel like a natural part of the property rather than a separate piece of furniture. The medium oak stain also adds warmth and brings out the natural character of the timber, complementing the surrounding interior.

All of the bespoke cabinetry and wine storage was carefully stained to achieve a consistent finish across the complete installation.

A Bespoke Wine Bar Designed Around the Customer

The finished installation provides our customer with a dedicated space to store and display their favourite wines while also creating a practical home bar for mixing and serving drinks.

By designing the cabinetry specifically around the dimensions and limitations of the existing alcove, we were able to maximise the available space and incorporate a surprising amount of storage.

From the U-shaped worktop and vertical bottle storage to the illuminated wine displays, central mirror and glass hanging storage, every element was designed specifically for the customer's requirements.
